New Work: Beneath the Old Pine

For the past couple of years my husband, Jeff, and I have been renovating the family cottage. It's been a challenge for a few reasons...building material has been in short supply as well as expensive, and honestly, building/renovating has never been at the top of our skill list.

Well, here we are two years later and nearing the end of "Phase One". We've made great progress and learned a lot of new skills—many of which we hope to never use again (ie: insulating the tight space under the cottage where the spiders like to live, or as I like to think of it...The Marriage Tester, lol).

This painting is for Jeff. It was his vision of a big pine tree that would fit a high wall in the cottage and we had fun searching for just the right tree for me to use as a reference. We're going to rest beneath this old pine for the summer, recharge our batteries, and plan for "Phase Two: The Final Battle".

Beneath the Old Pine, 36 x 20 inches, oil on canvas.
