SUE MILLER

Sue Miller is an award-winning Canadian oil painter known for creating original landscape and still life paintings inspired by the lakes, forests, and changing light of Canada. Working primarily in oils, she creates realistic paintings that capture peaceful moments in nature and the quiet beauty found in everyday life. Her work is collected across Canada and internationally by collectors who value exceptional craftsmanship, authenticity, and timeless Canadian art. Much of Sue's inspiration comes from time spent exploring the Canadian landscape. Whether walking a shoreline at sunrise, paddling across a still lake, or noticing the way evening light reflects through a beautiful crystal glass, she is drawn to the moments that often pass unnoticed. Those experiences become the foundation for paintings that invite viewers to slow down, reflect, and reconnect with places and memories that feel familiar and meaningful. Known for her realistic style and meticulous attention to detail, Sue is fascinated by light and its ability to transform an ordinary scene into something unforgettable. She strives to capture not only the appearance of a landscape or still life, but also the atmosphere, emotion, and sense of calm experienced in that moment. Working in oils allows her to build rich colour, subtle textures, and luminous light that give her paintings depth and lasting presence. Although largely self-taught, Sue has earned recognition as one of Canada's accomplished contemporary realist painters. She is a Signature Member of the Federation of Canadian Artists (AFCA) and an elected member of both the Society of Canadian Artists and the Ontario Society of Artists. Her paintings have received numerous honours, including the First Award of Excellence from the Society of Canadian Artists, the People's Choice Award from Station Gallery, recognition as a Top 10 Artist at the McMichael Gallery Autumn Art Sale, and a public art commission from the Town of Whitby. She was also commissioned by Station Gallery to create two commemorative paintings celebrating the historic 1929 Port Stanley Boxcar. Sue's work has been featured internationally in International Artist magazine, including a feature on her award-winning painting Glass Glow and an eight-page instructional demonstration of her painting process. Her original oil paintings are represented by galleries in Ontario and are held in private collections throughout Canada and abroad. For Sue, painting is both a creative practice and a way of preserving experiences that deserve to be remembered.
