THE INSPIRATION BEHIND MY LANDSCAPE PAINTINGS There is something about being on the water that changes the way you see the world. Many of my paintings begin long before I step into my studio. They begin in a kayak gliding across a quiet lake at sunrise, on a forest trail after fresh rain, or while watching evening light dance across the water from the shoreline. I carry a camera and strive to hold onto how these places make me feel. Back in my studio, those experiences become oil paintings that capture not just a place, but the feeling of being there. Growing up and living in Ontario has given me endless inspiration. The Canadian landscape is constantly changing with the seasons and I am especially drawn to the changing light throughout the day. Early morning mist, the warm glow of sunset, reflections on still water, and dramatic skies all become opportunities to explore colour, atmosphere, and mood. Light has the ability to transform an ordinary scene into something unforgettable, and capturing those moments has become one of the defining themes of my work. Each painting is created using professional oil paints on high quality canvas. I build each painting through multiple layers, allowing depth, texture, and luminous colour to emerge over time. Every original painting is carefully finished, varnished for protection so it can be enjoyed for generations. My work has found homes with collectors throughout Canada and internationally. Whether displayed in a lakeside cottage, a contemporary home, or a professional office, my hope is that each painting provides a quiet place to pause, reflect, and reconnect with nature. Original artwork offers something that reproductions simply cannot. Every brushstroke is unique. Every painting carries the marks of the artist's hand and the story behind its creation.
