Some travel memories stay with us because of where we went. Others stay with us because of how we felt.
The First of Many was inspired by a simple moment during our first day in Dublin, Ireland. After spending hours exploring the city on foot, my husband and I were ready for a break. We found ourselves outside The Snug Temple Bar, a traditional Dublin pub full of character, colour, and history.
We settled into a table outside and watched the city move around us. It wasn’t a planned destination or a famous landmark. It was simply a place to rest, take in the atmosphere, and enjoy being there.
For my husband, it was also the first Guinness of the trip.
At the time, it felt like a small moment. Looking back, it became one of those memories that defines a journey. The beginning of an adventure. The first of many experiences, discoveries, conversations, and memories we would share throughout Ireland.
That feeling is what inspired this painting.

The vibrant red pub front immediately caught my attention, framed by overflowing flower boxes and surrounded by the energy of people enjoying a spring day in Dublin. I wanted to capture not only the distinctive architecture and atmosphere of the pub but also the sense of anticipation that comes with the start of a new adventure.
Painted as a gift for my husband, The First of Many is a reminder that some of our most meaningful travel memories are not found in guidebooks. They happen during unexpected pauses, quiet conversations, and ordinary moments that become extraordinary over time.
As artists, we often paint landscapes and places because they are beautiful. Sometimes, however, we paint them because they hold a story.
This one holds a story that will always make me smile.

About the Location
Located in the heart of Dublin, the Temple Bar district is one of the city’s most vibrant and recognizable neighbourhoods. Known for its colourful streets, lively atmosphere, traditional music, and historic pubs, it attracts visitors from around the world looking to experience a taste of Irish culture.
Pubs have long been an important part of Dublin’s social fabric. More than simply places to enjoy a drink, they serve as gathering spots where friends meet, stories are shared, and visitors are welcomed into the local culture. The outdoor seating, bustling sidewalks, and warm hospitality create an atmosphere that encourages people to slow down and enjoy the moment.
What drew me to this scene was not just the character of the pub itself, but the feeling of being there. After a day spent exploring the city, it was the perfect place to pause, relax, and take in the energy of Dublin. Those simple moments often become the memories we treasure most.
