The Story Behind the Painting

There are days on the lake when nothing in particular is happening, yet you don't want to leave. The water is calm, the colours are changing, and for a little while the rest of the world seems to fade into the background. That's the feeling I wanted to capture in Reverie.
 

The shoreline was glowing with autumn colour as the afternoon light filtered through the trees. Golds, oranges, and greens reflected across the water, changing with every ripple. Under a bright blue sky, the reflections became just as much a part of the scene as the trees themselves.
 

Rather than painting every branch and leaf, I focused on the feeling of the moment. Loose brushstrokes let the light, colour, and movement do the work, creating a painting that feels more like a memory than a photograph.
 

Reverie is a reminder of those quiet days spent on the water, when the only thing to do is slow down, take it all in, and enjoy the beauty that's right in front of you.
