The Story Behind the Painting
I love walking through the woods without having anywhere particular to go. You follow your own path, notice how the light changes through the trees, and wonder what you will find around the next bend.
Beneath the Canopy was inspired by many hikes spent exploring the woods simply for the pleasure of being there. I am drawn to those quiet stretches of trail where shafts of sunlight find their way through the canopy and suddenly illuminate the forest floor. The light catches your attention and makes you want to keep walking.
There is a sense of curiosity in those moments. You don't know exactly what's ahead, and that's part of the enjoyment.
I think the same can be said for life. We don't always know what is coming around the next bend, and we aren't meant to. Sometimes the best thing we can do is stay curious, pay attention to where we are, and enjoy the journey.
That feeling is what I wanted to capture in this original Canadian landscape painting. The path leads somewhere, but the destination isn't the point. It's about being present, following the light, and enjoying the journey.
Inspired by the forests and trails I love to explore, I hope this painting brings that same feeling of stepping into the woods and wondering what lies just beyond the next bend.
