A Deep Breath: Bringing a Little of the Lake Home

One of the things I love about being out on the lake is how little it takes to feel more settled. The fresh air, the smell of pine and water, and the quiet of the shoreline give me a chance to slow down and simply look.

That feeling was the starting point for A Deep Breath.

Golden light catches the pines and clouds, then carries through their reflections in the water. I wanted to keep the sense of being there while allowing the colour and brushwork to express what drew me to the scene.

Up close, you can see the individual marks that build the trees, clouds and ripples. From farther away, those marks come together into a quiet lake landscape. I enjoy working between those two views, giving you something different to notice as you move closer.

My hope is that this original Canadian landscape painting brings a little of that feeling into a home: a moment to pause, look and take a deep breath.

Your new painting is absolutely stunning! I am sure it will end up in a home to bring reminders of time on a lake.
