Studio Update: Refining Reflections and Light in a Canadian Landscape Oil Painting

One of the things I enjoy most about painting is that every stage asks something different of me. Some days everything seems to fall into place. Other days, the painting lets me know there's still work to do.

In this video, I'm sharing where this painting stands right now. The water is beginning to capture the quiet feeling I was hoping for, but there are still a few areas that aren't quite working. Sometimes it's a value that feels off. Sometimes an edge is too sharp, or a passage is asking for a little more simplicity.

I've learned not to rush these decisions. Living with a painting for a while often reveals things I don't notice in the excitement of a painting session. A fresh look the next morning can completely change what I see.
